What Will You Learn?

Kickboxing is a great way to keep fit whilst learning a new skill. This course is an introduction to this martial art and it is suitable for everybody over the age of 14. We will explore the basic stances, guards and strikes from a variety of traditions/styles. We will also introduce some fitness work into the class which will be tailored to your needs.

What Will I do in Class?

A class will typically consist of a good warm up and stretches. We would then learn some techniques before moving on to partnered pad work. Within the class we would also work on some light fitness and conditioning exercises.

What Do I Need?

You will need to wear loose sports clothing and trainers. It would also be beneficial to have some boxing gloves due to the current covid situation, this avoids sharing gloves. These do not have to be high quality or expensive. 14 oz gloves are suitable for most adults up to 80kg (above 80kg 16oz gloves may be best) and are a good all-rounder for pad work. We will not be free sparring on the beginner course.

What do I do after the Beginner Course?

The beginner course is ideally suited for those who would like to learn kickboxing but are not sure about joining an established class. You can be confident that you and the other students are all in the same boat! It is hoped that once the beginner course is completed you would be happy to join the established kickboxing class at Balcombe or another kickboxing class at White Crane Academy.
