WCA China Trip from Friday, 7 to 21 November 2025.
After our trip, I was sent this video – we made the news in China:
Friday 21th
Back home.
Well, what a trip! It has been a pleasure the last two weeks to share so many experiences with such a great group of people.
China travel isn’t always easy and straight forward, and training for several hours per day can be quite intense and a steep learning curve, but everyone did amazingly and did themselves and WCA proud… now to start planning the next trip… and in the meantime, see you in class.
Thursday 19th
Yesterday evening we got to see the spectacular Canton Tower from our river cruise, and this morning we were to head up what is currently the 3rd highest tower in the world (previously the highest)…with some spectacular views!
After we got back on solid ground it was time for some last minute shopping and grabbing some of the amazing food that Guangzhou has to offer, and then our approximately 24 hour journey begins from Guangzhou to Haywards Heath..
Wednesday 20th
Time to leave the school and after saying our farewells, we were on the 9am train from Jieyang to Guangzhou.
After exploring a couple of areas in Guangzhou we went on a cruise of the Pearl river and took in the spectacular city scenes.
Tuesday 18th
In the evening we finished our trip with a meal out to a fantastic local restaurant.
Earlier in the day everyone had plenty of time to practice and refine their Qigong, Tai Chi, and Kung Fu.
Afterwards all of the students were awarded their certificates and Ping presented me with a plaque to commemorate our visit.
And this morning we had a visit from a local TV Station.
Monday 17th
Monday was a practice day, revising everything we learnt last week.
Later in the day we did some tapping qigong, followed by a lesson – and sampling – in the local tea ceremony, which this region is very famous for.
In the evening the Kung Fu team finished the short form they were learning, a couple of people had massages and cupping, and I had a push hands lesson with Ping, followed by lots of tea and chatting.
Sunday 16th
Today started with some practice, another fantastic breakfast, and then I took a few students down to a local tea shop to buy some green tea and the famous local tea “Phoenix oolong”… which once you’ve had it, no other tea compares!
After the bike ride to the tea shop and some lunch, we headed out to Jieyang ancient town to go to Confucian and Buddhist temples.
We then had a barbecue in the evening and presented Master Ping and Guiping with a present for all of their hard work and dedication.
I then finished the evening with a cupping treatment.
Saturday 15th
Saturday we started the morning revising what we’ve learnt before heading to Chaozhou for a day of culture and shopping!
Friday 14th
All the students have now finished learning Da Wu Qigong and the 24-move Chen Tai Chi fan form… now it’s time to repeat, repeat, repeat…
Some pictures from our trip to the hot springs, trip to a restaurant to eat fresh Muslim noodles, and wander around part of Jieyang.
Thursday 13th
Today was another busy training day. Check out the Tai Chi Fan and some of the students doing evening Kung Fu
Wednesday 12th
Today started nice and early again with lots of pre-breakfast practice, followed by a traditional Chinese breakfast of congee (a Chinese rice porridge) and various toppings (ask Karina about the baby eels when you see her).
In our morning training the group finished the Da Wu Qigong form. Da Wu means “The Great Dance” and is a very old form of gentle exercise, closely linked to Chinese medicine.
After finishing Qigong, Master Ping led the group through some Tai Chi Fan revision.
Morning training over and we went out for lunch at a lovely countryside outdoor restaurant, famous for its BBQ chicken and many various dishes cooked in bamboo.
One thing the coming to China does is completely ruin Chinese takeaways back home, they’re never the same again after the utterly delicious local specialities here!
Back at the school we did some pre-class training and then a two hour afternoon Tai Chi fan class – continuing to work the body and particularly test the brains of those learning it for the first time (I knew I’d enjoy watching them all learn it 🤣).
After class, another delicious meal and then a fun evening event of Chinese paper cutting… or hacking on my part! See the pictures below…
Tuesday 11th
If there was one word to describe today, it’s: action packed.
Ok that’s two words but who’s counting…
Much to my shame when I awoke, two students were already up doing some training before me! Gold stars to Paul and Hamish!
After some pre-training before the pre-breakfast class, we had breakfast, then Qigong class, then lunch, then some tea, then training before the class, then Tai Chi Fan class, then a trip to a local market, then dinner, then tea, then some evening training, which included a few people doing a Kung Fu class.
Here are some photos:
Monday 10th
A day of Qigong practice and Tai Chi fan. Finishing with a traditional Chinese music performance! (And a few students giving it a go too)
Early morning Qigong training.
Sunday 9th
At the school at last!
After navigating a last minute flight cancellation from Shanghai to Guangzhou, we finally managed to get to the southern city at 1.30am and in our hotel beds by 3!
With a train from Guangzhou to Jieyang at 9am, it didn’t leave much time for sleep but everyone was up not quite bright eyed and bushy tailed but at least raring to go, and after a breakfast buffet made our way to the train station.
And then at midday we arrived at our destination and have spent the afternoon doing our own thing, with a mix of training, massages, chatting and drinking tea with Ping, eating (of course), and catching up on sleep…zzz
Saturday 8th
After our long flight we arrived in Shanghai at 06.30am and as our layover is around 10 hours we have plenty of time to explore the city.
Friday 7th – Off We Go…
All checked in and ready to fly.
Thursday 6th
We’re busy packing. Leaving tomorrow and we’re full of excitement! China here we come 🙂

Great to see you all! Have a really marvellous time.
